Both Glasss VGs have a stainless steel screen made of 316 stainless steel. The 316 stainless alloy is the most inert and chemically stable alloy of stainless steel. The screen can be removed if you prefer. We recommend using the screen because:
1) Unlike conventional smoking pipes the screen does not get hot enough to oxidize (i.e. chemically react with oxygen). Because it is not oxidized, the screen will not produce metallic flavors or contamination. Stainless steel oxidizes at about 800F, which is easily exceeded in a conventional combustion pipe (screens are heated red-hot). By comparison, the VaporGenie will not heat the screen above 400F. Hence, the screen in the VaporGenie remains shiny and does not create metallic contamination, even after months of use.
2) Vaporization works best with finely ground herbs, and a screen is the best way to hold the ground herbs because it will not clog. A single hole in glass will become clogged.
3) The screen provides more uniform airflow and uniform heating. This is critical for uniform vaporization.
If you are a glass enthusiast, and prefer pipes with absolutely no metal, please consider using the glass VaporGenie with the stainless steel screen anyway. The stainless steel screen absolutely will not create metallic flavors or contamination like in conventional smoking pipes. Similarly, the retaining wire will also not produce metallic contamination because it is not excessively heated. Besides, what you really need to be worried about is toxic flint dust from flint lighters. How many people out there smoke from a glass pipe to avoid metal exposure and then use a flint lighter?
One nice thing about the glass VGs is that the bowl is transparent and allows you to watch the vaporization process. You can actually see your herbs turning darker brown as they are vaporized. The sherlock shape of Glass Pipe VG puts the bowl slightly below eye-level. The Glass VGs have a screen-retaining feature, so the screen will not fall out when the pipe is inverted.
Maintenance: Glass VGs can be cleaned using alcohol+salt, hot soapy water, or conventional glass pipe cleaning products. Solvents, alcohol or soap will not damage the ceramic filter material, so feel free to clean the top by soaking. We do not have specific recommended cleaning instructions. Do NOT use a torch lighter with the glass VGs because torch lighters tend to cause cracks in the glass.
Glass Bat VG
|
$65.00
|
            |
|
The patent-pending VaporGenie glass bat pipe is made of Scott borosilicate glass and is very portable and easy to use. At 42 grams, its our lightest pipe, even though it is made with thick-wall (2.5mm) glass. The glass bat has some nice features: 1) The glass bat is one piece. There is no detachable top like in our other pipes. 2) An innovative sliding stainless steel door provides side-access to the bowl 3) There is no ground glass joint, which is a common source of cracks and fractures. So we believe the glass bat is more durable than the sherlock glass pipe. 4) The ceramic filter is easily removable, by simply removing a wire retaining ring. This simplifies cleaning of the glass, and also makes it possible to completely burn soot off the ceramic filter, if necessary. 5) The flame-input end is transparent, so its easy to observe the flame location, and position the flame properly. Glass construction means that the glass bat can be cleaned with solvents. The VG glass bat pipe will become hot with use, but only around the bowl/filter area. The glass bat becomes hotter than the SS coil bat, but less hot than the aluminum bat. The glass bat cools down faster than the aluminum bat. The glass bat uses a different (slightly smaller) screen than our other pipes. So if you buy replacement screens make sure you get the correct ones. The larger screens will work, but they are not ideal. Replacement parts (wireforms, sliding door) are available at reasonable cost.
The glass bat VG is the result of a collaborative development effort between VaporGenie and Guy Thomas of HiGuy Glass of Vancouver, Canada. Guy Thomas created the sliding door concept. At VaporGenie, Guy Thomas' creative contributions are greatly appreciated and well respected. Thank you Guy for helping create another stellar product.

Glass Sherlock VG

The Glass VG is about 7 inches long and about 4 inches tall. It is made of thick-wall (2.5 mm wall) clear borosilicate glass from Schott Glass of Germany. Wall thickness varies from 2.5 - 5 mm, so it is very durable. It sits stably upright on a flat surface, so loading the bowl is easy. The ceramic filter is exactly the same as the filter used in the other VaporGenie pipes (all VaporGenie pipes use exactly the same ceramic filter material). The filter assembly top and bowl attach by a ground glass joint. The ceramic flame filter is held in place by a stainless steel retaining wire.
The bowl in the glass VaporGenie is larger (about 50% deeper) than the bowl of the classic VG pipes. Bowl is about the same size as the bowl of the handcarved (spiral and smooth) pipes.
Glass tends to absorb more heat than wood, so the pipe and filter of the glass VaporGenie will become hotter than the classic or handcarved pipes (about as hot as the metal bowl of the classic VG pipe). Even with heavy use, the pipe will remain cool enough to touch, but the bowl area may become too hot to touch. It will not burn you, though.
The glass VaporGenie comes with a padded pouch that protects it from falls and breakage.
For $20 more you can get a RYOT Axe-Pack protective case for your Glass VaporGenie (instead of the padded pouch). The Glass VG fits perfectly in the Axe-Pack and has a bunch of extra storage areas. Also included are a couple of extra screens. The Glass Sherlock VaporGenie requires the regular 5/8" diameter screens.
These pipes are not available for wholesale, so you will not find them anywhere except here on our website.
The Glass VaporGenie is handmade by Guy Thomas of Hi-Guy Glass in Vancouver, Canada. Thank you, Guy, for creating a clever, functional and attractive glass VaporGenie.

Reviews
I believe that the main reason it heat up so fast is because it is glass.
I love the classic version too. But this one is THE BEST!!
only thing i can complain about is that the edges of filter is broken a little bit, not a big deal, but makes me feel this amazing charm incomlpete in some state.
anyways, this device is beyond any words. absolutely, insanely amazing, pure artform for any smoker
